Tree on to zipline (flying fox)

The following set of photos are from Mebbin in Northern NSW. During severe storms, several large trees came down on their zipline, causing the damage.

 

 

 

 

Incorrect Back-ups

All belay back-ups that we construct are in line with the ACCT standards. These standards are revised annually and where Australian standards exceed the ACCT standards, they are used instead. The following illustrate incorrect belay back-ups:

 

Cable Grips

Cable grips need to be correctly oriented and spaced as per manufacturers recommendations. The following photos show incorrect installation:

 

Rapid Links

One problem we find with rapid links is rust. Especially installing galvanised hardware in a marine environment. Another is general wear from other hardware, such as pulleys or shear reduction devices.

  

 

Tree Damage/Overgrown Hardware
